In 2023 Jason Arday became the youngest Black professor ever appointed at Cambridge, and his journey from South London and special education to the top of academia became a national inspiration story almost overnight. This book looks at how that story got made, and who needed it.
It then follows what happened as it came apart: the challenges, the backlash against diversity schemes, his death and the reaction to it. It asks what the whole episode says about merit, race and disability in Britain today, without claiming answers the inquest and Cambridge's own review haven't reached yet.
What you get: a ZIP file containing the book as a PDF (157 pages) and an EPUB, so you can read it on a computer, tablet or e-reader.
